Greeting

Thank you for visiting the website of the Hagoita Workshop Towa.

Our workshop offers overseas visitors to Japan the opportunity to create a unique hagoita which brightens up everyday life and to experience beautiful Japanese tradition.

Growing up in my parents' kimono shop, I was immersed in the beauty of Japanese culture through kimonos and accessories from a young age. This exposure nurtured in me a deep appreciation for Japanese wabi-sabi—an aesthetic concept that finds beauty in imperfection. Motivated by my desire to preserve this wabi-sabi mindset, I made the decision to settle permanently in Kyoto, a city steeped in traditional Japanese culture.

During a period of illness, my family presented me with a hagoita as a protective charm. The joy I felt upon receiving this hagoita inspired me to establish Towa. Each hagoita skillfully embodies the essence of Japanese culture and is imbued with heartfelt wishes to bring happiness to others. I have opened a workshop where visitors can express their emotions by creating such meaningful and traditional hagoita.

As you enjoy your time in Kyoto, we invite you to experience Towa's unique handcraft workshop and explore our hagoita, whether as a gift or for yourself. Japanese visitors are, of course, also welcome. We look forward to welcoming you.
